Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dalluge 2000 20-Ounce Decking Hammer Textured Face, 18-Inch Straight Hickory HandleCustomer Review: Dalluge hammer Summary: 5 StarsGreat hammer, nice face, good weight, not to heavy or light. I like the wooden handle and the fact that the throat (where the handle meets the hammer head) is nice and wide, not narrow and weak like most wooden handled hamers. I have a Vaughn California framer which has a nice throat as well but the axe handle style handle is not for me. the cali framer weighs more than I need for building decks and most framing, and has a waffle face which is fine for framing but not decks, or finish of course. I use that for real big spikes and as a backup, along with my old steel handled Estwing, and the Vaughn 999 which is my next favorite hammer, except for the narrow throat. If the VAughn 999 had a wider throat and the same "textured" not waffle, as the Dalluge it would possibly be my favorite hammer, but alas it is not.
Description of Dalluge 2000 20-Ounce Decking Hammer Textured Face, 18-Inch Straight Hickory HandleDalluge DL20 20oz 18" Straight hickory handle. Smooth Face. All handles are made from flame-treated American hickory and machine-gauged to a precise balance, then double sanded, buffed and lacquered to assure maximum comfort. Dalluge decking and framing hammers are in a class by themselves. Designed by a professional carpenter for professional carpenters, Dalluge hits the word "balance" right on the nose, with head-to-handle weight ratio so precise, you'll swear you're swinging a much light hammer. The result is surer, deeper, more powerful nail driving with less strain on the arm and shoulder.
